Moscow supports Kyrgyztan´s application to join to Customs Union

The Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, supports Kyrgyztan’s intention of joining the Customs Union formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

“We have filed an application to join the Customs Union and a group of experts is currently at work. The path has been chosen and it is only a matter of time” said Omurbek Babanov, Kyrgyz President. This will is shared by Mevdedev: “Russia’s invariable position is that Kyrgyzstan should become a member of the Customs Union”.

This first step has to be followed by an integration process and the signing of several treaties due to Kyrgyzstan’s access to Customer Union.

This could lead to the inclusion of a new member in the project launched in November 2011, when the Russian, Belarusian and Kazakh presidents signed a declaration for a Euroasian economic integration, based on the settle of a Customs Union and common economic space, formed by these countries.
