FCC lands in Qatar after closing a 39 million euros contract

The Spanish FCC lands in Qatar after obtaining a 39 million euros urbanization contract near Doha. This is the first contract awarded by the construction and services company since their alliance in 2010 with the local firm Petroserv to develop infrastructures in the emirate.

FCC, who has recently opened their new offices in Qatar’s capital city, will reinforce their presence in the area thanks to this contract. Also, FCC’s Austrian subsidiary, Alpine had already developed some projects in the area, as the Dubai Cricket Stadium, worth 50 million euros, or the Borouge industrial plant in Abu Dhabi, with a 80.7 million euros budget.

The Cricket Stadium, started in 2006, will have a capacity of 25.000 spectators and will be part of the Dubai’s Sport City, the biggest sport complex of the world.

On the other hand, the Ruwais Borouge plant extension project, expected to be finished in 2013, includes the construction of 26 new buildings between offices, production plants and warehouses.

FCC also carried out the construction in Ruwais of the Abu Dhabi National Oil (ADNOC) offices building, finished in the end of 2011.
